The cajeput tree is part of the melaleuca family of trees which also produces the tea tree essential oil. This oil is popular for is insecticide properties helping to drive mosquitos and other pesky bugs away. It has also been known to help with respiratory discomfort, fighting against infections and menstrual pain.


Origin: Indonesia

Plant part: Leaves and twigs

Botanical Name: Melaleuca cajeputi

Extraction method: Steam distilled

Blends with: Clary sage, geranium, lavender, marjoram, oakmoss, pine, rosemary, spice oils, ylang ylang

Aroma: A blended aroma of rosemary, camphor and cardamom. Strong and herbaceous with a slight sweet scent.

Antiviral, antiseptic, cosmetic, bactericidal, insecticide, decongestant, analgesic, expectorant, febrifuge, vermifuge, anti-spasmodic, anti-neuralgic, carminative, stimulant, tonic, sudorific, and emenagogue substance.

Safety, Storage and Shelf Life

Safety: Not to be used on children under 12 as it contains a high 1,8-cineole level. Proper dilution should be followed. May cause skin irritation in some individuals. A small skin test is recommended prior to use. Avoid contact with eyes.

Storage: Always store out of direct sunlight and away from heat. If possible store in refrigeration for extended life.

Bottling: Our 5ml, 10ml and 15ml bottles come with euro dropper tops. Our 30ml and 60ml bottles will come with a traditional top and a complimentary dropper with a measured glass pipette for easy measuring. The complimentary dropper should not be used while storing the essential oil.
